Strengthening the Safety Line | Our Hospital Conducts an Emergency Fire Drill Ahead of Lunar New Year
As Lunar New Year approaches, to comprehensively improve the hospital’s fire safety management capacity, strengthen all staff members’ awareness of fire safety and emergency response capabilities, and firmly consolidate the safety line during the holiday period, on the afternoon of January 8, our hospital organized a Lunar New Year fire safety learning activity and drill.
This drill combined “theoretical training and practical exercise” and focused on two key topics: fire evacuation and escape, and the use of fire extinguishers.
At 2:00 p.m., as the simulated smoke began to rise and the fire alarm sounded, the evacuation drill officially began. Staff members from the participating departments moved out in an orderly manner along the pre-established evacuation routes, bending low and covering their mouths and noses with their hands as they quickly evacuated to the safe area. Safety officers on each floor responded promptly, directing evacuation routes and checking and accounting for personnel. The entire process was tense yet highly organized, with all procedures carried out in a standardized and well-structured manner.
After the evacuation drill ended, all participants moved to the designated area to take part in practical fire extinguisher training. The fire safety specialist explained in detail the structure, operating steps, and precautions for using dry powder fire extinguishers. “Lift, pull the pin, aim the hose, squeeze the lever” — under the specialist’s guidance, medical staff, administrative staff, and logistics personnel practiced one by one. Facing the simulated fire, everyone strictly followed the technical requirements to practice extinguishing the flames. Many staff members using a fire extinguisher for the first time shared: “I used to think fire extinguishers were very difficult to use, but after trying it myself once, I understood it clearly. It really can work when it’s needed!”
After the drill, hospital leadership emphasized: “Hospitals are places where large numbers of people gather, so the responsibility for fire safety is extremely heavy. Especially before and after Lunar New Year, when the use of electricity and gas increases, potential safety risks must not be underestimated. All staff members in the hospital must remain vigilant at all times, treat drills as real operations, and continuously improve their emergency response capabilities.”
This fire drill not only tested the feasibility and effectiveness of the hospital’s fire emergency response plan, but also truly strengthened staff members’ awareness of fire safety and their ability to rescue themselves and others, thereby laying a solid foundation for building a safe and harmonious healthcare environment.
Safety is never a minor matter; prevention comes before the “fire.” Our hospital will continue to strengthen fire safety management and firmly consolidate the safety line, so as to provide patients as well as all staff members with a safer and more reliable healthcare environment.
